BarBri Can Bite Me

Ok, it is down to crunch time. By this time next week the bar exam will be over and done with. So I am furiously working to get all my cramming in. Today was wills and trusts morning. Abiding by logic, I read over the lecture notes then hit up the essays that BarBri provides for you to practice with. Here is the problem: the sample answers for the wills section are just wrong. I mean wrong. Some just failed to mentioned something I thought was important but one the answer made no sense at all. It talked about applying a lapse statute at the time of death of a life tenant and not at time of death of testator. I refused to believe this was right even when my fellow studiers insisted it was fine. So I looked it up in the NC outline. Nothing there to support their answer. I still think its wrong (what can i say, I am a Taurus after all). The next step being that I go talk to the prof I took for Dead People. I mean, there is some advantage to studying on your law school campus. As it turns out, I was right. I was not surprised by this. What I was surprised by was that the prof immediately knew what question I was talking about. Apparently, people had the same issue with it last year as I did this year. They received a corrected answer eventually. Well, the bar is next week assholes, think you could give us the right fucking answers??? I mean really, this review course costs enough that it should at least have correct model answers. Seriously, is that just too much to ask? Especially, when this is not the first time it has been a problem...

Study Music

When I started studying for the bar, my study music pretty much consisted of everything on my play list. Then it got narrowed to rock, punk, and anything not poppy and happy. Now I am pretty much down to Rage Against the Machine, Seether, Metallica, and Godsmack. What do you think that says about how my attitude towards the bar exam has progressed?

Seriously, bar examiners????

I'm doing practice questions in crim law/crim pro today and it's going decently. However, there are some nit-picky crazy questions (luckily these are on multipart questions, so not the whole thing)-like jury polling, did we even cover that? Like, at all???
Also, can now vouch for the barbri essay book since they have pulled actual state questions and just changed the names-you go, barbri, you go...

Get over yourself

I went to this concert this weekend and after the band was done, and after shots were had at the bar across the street, my friend and I decided to go get some pics with the guys in the band. So the bassist was cool and we got a great silly pic with him. So we figure we should push our luck and ask the singer for a pic too. And his reaction "you can take it as long as you don't post it all over myspace." Ok. Dick. Because really, I want my picture with him all over my space because he is so hot. Not so much. I mean I actually wanted the pic because I had nothing for him to sign or to sign with and I thought his band sounded good. Definite potential and it would be fun to have a pic with them before they became too cool for their fans. Another reason this myspace thing annoyed me was they have a myspace page. It is a huge marketing tool--I wouldn't have known about the show without it. So why wouldn't you want the free publicity of your pic being posted on someone's page? I just thought it was a dickhead thing to say. And he was no fun like the bassist. So I boo the lead singer. But the rest of the band I will still like and for this reason I will refrain from saying who it was on here. However, if I had had access to a computer last night after all those drinks I can pretty much guarantee that would not have been the case.

File this under: "Could I make this shit up?"

On a bookshelf in this chick's living room (meaning in plain view):
The Complete Kama Sutra
The Purpose Driven Life

Is it just me or do these two not go together? I was like, for real?

Things I don't understand #2

I have been reviewing Constitutional law this week and while I generally find the subject to be interesting, there are somethings I just don't get. So I was reviewing the suspect classes and quasi suspect classes. And the whole concept seems like bullshit to me. Where in the constitution are these distinctions ever even slightly founded? They aren't. And gender and legitamacy are the only 2 suspect classes? Generally, I thought the whole legitamacy shit was over with. Laws are pretty equal on this. I guess they feel the same way about gender discrimination but I am just not buying it. Regardless, could someone please explain to me how 9 people have the authority to decide that different discrimination is entitled to different rules? I just don't get it. Really, I thought discrimination was wrong regardless but clearly, like with so many other things, I was mistaken/confused.

Math Problem

Rednecks + Beer + fire crackers= me hating the 4th of July

Don't get me wrong, I love our country. I'm grateful to be a citizen with all the rights and privileges being an American gives me. Somehow, I don't think this is what the founders had in mind, when they decided that England sucked as a government over the new colonies.

We don't go anywhere on the 4th anymore because the constant sound of fireworks makes our dogs go crazy. This made worse by the fact that the necks in our neighborhood started celebrating last weekend. I'm torn between wanting them to get rid of all their drunken noisiness this evening and praying for a gully washing thunderstorm that makes such nonsense impossible this evening since I have a simulated MBE all day tomorrow.
